Recommended Kimonos for Formal Kimono Dress.
We highly recommend you to select either Uchikake or Furisode kimono for a formal dress.
Uchikake are the kimonos for brides, which they wear at a wedding. Furisode are the formal kimonos for special occasions such as a graduation ceremony, a coming-of-age celebration or a wedding (when you are invited). Both Uchikake and Furisode have the longest sleeves of all kimonos. We use those long sleeves for a train or mermaid skirt of a dress. You can also select other kimonos like Kurotomesode, Irotomesode, Iromuji, Homongi, or Komon, if you do not wish to have a train for your dress. Most of Uchikake kimonos are made of very thick material with gorgeous embroideries. Mermaid dress, Princess line dress, and Corset dress are recommended for Uchikake. Smaller patterns of Uchikake are better for a dress for the material will have to be cut into small pieces.

Most of Furisode kimonos are made of thin material and their touch is very smooth. Mermaid dress, Princess line dress, and Tube Top & Flare Skirt are recommended. Smaller patterns of Furisode are better for a dress for the material will have to be cut into small pieces.
